RecordRoom is a web app for tracking physical music collections — vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, box sets, and other physical media. It exists because keeping track of what you own shouldn't require becoming a database administrator.
We wanted something simpler.
Collectors usually get two options: keep everything in your head, notes app, or a spreadsheet — or use a database built around exact releases, marketplaces, pricing, and collector complexity.
RecordRoom sits in the middle. It helps you answer the practical questions:
- Do I already own this?
- Which version do I have?
- Where did I put it?
- What condition is it in?
- What did I pay?
- What notes do I want to remember?
Without forcing every collector to care about every field.
Track what matters. Ignore what doesn't.
Some collectors care deeply about exact pressings. Others just want to know they own the album. Both should be able to use RecordRoom comfortably.
That's why fields are customizable: turn on release details, condition, acquisition information, or estimated value when you want them, and leave them off when you don't. And when a release isn't in the lookup results, manual entry gets it into your stack anyway.
Your records don't need stock tickers.
RecordRoom does not revolve around:
- Buying and selling
- Market prices
- Investment performance
- Social feeds
Optional purchase price and estimated value fields exist for your own reference — you enter them, and they're there for personal or insurance purposes, not speculation.

Vinyl, CDs, cassettes, box sets, and other physical formats all belong here. If you own it in a physical form, RecordRoom is happy to track it.
